During her studies at the University of the Arts in Berlin, Anja Backus performed on stage at the Neuköllner Oper as Gretchen in Mein Avatar und ich. From 2012 to 2014, she appeared as Countess Sztáray in the musical Elisabeth in Vienna, a role she reprised in the summer of 2019 during the concert performance in front of Schönbrunn Palace. Starting in 2014, Anja Backus toured through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with Dirty Dancing, performing as Lisa, lead singer, and Marjorie.
Following Vom Geist der Weihnacht (2015), she took on roles in Evita and Little Shop of Horrors in Bad Vilbel (2016), Rocky – Das Musical at Stage Palladium Theater Stuttgart (2017), Titanic in Bad Hersfeld (2017/2018), TANZ DER VAMPIRE in Vienna (2017/2018), Jesus Christ Superstar in Vienna (2018/2019), and Ghost – The Musical at Stage Operettenhaus in Hamburg (2018/2019). Additionally, Anja Backus appeared in 2015 on the TV show The Voice of Germany as part of the team of Michi Beck and Smudo (Die Fantastischen Vier). With the role of Magda in TANZ DER VAMPIRE in Oberhausen, the native of the Rhineland is now returning to her roots and will also perform this role in Stuttgart.
